Through the looking glass
Some people tell me that I am too cheong hei. They say I cover too many issues in one article and that most people are incapable of sieving through the long articles that I write and figure out what my message is. Okay, for those with a limited intellectual capability, this article is going to be short and sweet.
NO HOLDS BARRED
Raja Petra Kamarudin
Some of my friends and family ask me why I do what I do. They ask: why do you whack away, day after day? What do you hope to achieve? Are you hoping to change the government? Can what you do see a change of government?
Others complain that what I write confuses people. One day you whack Umno and call them racists and corrupted. The next day you whack the opposition and say the same thing about them. So who do you want as the government?
Then some accuse me of being inconsistent and of having no principles. You are like lalang, they say. You sway with the wind. One day you sway this way, the next day you sway the other way. You are getting the people very confused about where you stand.
Well, let’s get one thing very clear. I do not work for the opposition, or the government for that matter. I am not a member of any Malaysian political party. I do not owe allegiance or loyalty to any political party. My job is not to help any particular political party get into power. And if I oppose any political party that does not make me a traitor or turncoat. How can you be a traitor when you did not swear allegiance to any political party and how can you be a turncoat when you never wore any coat in the first place?
Okay, now that we got that out of the way, let’s talk about you. Let’s not talk about me. This is not about me. This is about you. Where do you stand? What do you want? What do you hope to achieve? Do you know what you want? Are you doing what you are doing based on principles? Do you even have any principles in the first place?
My job is not to change the government. I can’t change the government. I have no power to change the government. Only you can change the government. Only when 60% of you come out to vote and vote for the opposition can the government change. That means we need millions of you to do that. One man can’t do that. And I am only one man.
Do I confuse you with the articles that I write? Well, then that is your fault, not mine. Confusion is a shortcoming and weakness. How can I be blamed for your shortcomings and weaknesses? And if what I write confuses you then you are at fault, not me. That means you do not have clarity of thought and a weak mind. How can I be blamed for your poor clarity of thought and weak mind? Am I to blame for that?
My job is simple. My job is to provoke you. So, on different days I take different positions. Then I watch you scramble helter-skelter. I force you to think. And those incapable of thinking will get confused. And confusion breeds anger. You are angry because you are weak and you have shortcomings. But you can’t get angry with yourself. So you get angry with me. You are incapable of seeing that I am playing on your weaknesses. You are too dumb to see that because you do not have clarity of thought and you have a weak mind you become confused and you blame me for that.
Malaysia Today is an exercise of looking at the looking glass. But you do not look at the looking glass. You look through the looking glass. Hence you do not see yourself. You see others. Hence, also, you can’t see your own shortcomings and weaknesses. Your see the shortcomings and weaknesses of others.
Can what I write sway you or turn you? If you are a Muslim and I propagate Christianity to you will that make you leave Islam to become a Christian? If that happens then your faith must have been very weak in the first place. If you are an opposition supporter can what I say make you become a government supporter? If that happens then you can’t have been a strong opposition supporter in the first place.
Those with commitment, faith, resolve, dedication, sincerity, honesty, and what have you, will never sway even when thrown to the lions. Is that not what the Bible teaches you? So how can a few words from me make you turn if your commitment, faith, resolve, dedication, sincerity, honesty, etc., was carved in stone?
So, the next time you read what I write, do not look through the looking glass. Look at the looking glass and see what is there. And if you can’t see what is there I will have to continue provoking you until your confusion clears up and you begin to have clarity of thought.
