We want to replace Barisan, says DAP

(The Star) – DAP has brushed off MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek’s statement that DAP has an agenda to join Barisan Nasional to protect its position in Penang.

Its secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, who is also Penang Chief Minister, said Dr Chua had first said Dong Zong (United Chinese School Committees Association of Malaysia) wanted to finish off MCA.

“We don’t want to replace MCA. We want to replace Barisan,” he said after presenting goodwill payment to single mothers and beneficiaries of deceased senior citizens at Dewan Balora Mastika here yesterday.

Dr Chua had said that DAP’s long-term political agenda was to join Barisan and protect its position in Penang.

“DAP politicians are like any other who thirst for power,” he had said. “Now, they are in the state government in Penang and they hope to be in the Federal Government.”
