Perkasa warns Isa to watch out
(MM) – Perkasa has lashed out at Umno supreme council member Tan Sri Isa Samad, saying his comments on the vocal Malay NGO are “irresponsible”.
It also advised the Felda chairman to watch his step while serving the government-linked company.
Perkasa secretary-general Syed Hassan Syed Ali said Isa and Umno should list out all the aid given to Perkasa to conduct programmes for all to see.
“List the details. How much? Millions? Billions? Was it as much as the aid given to Dong Zong for a new building, which in return led to 93 per cent of Chinese voters for Barisan Nasional (BN) in the 13th general elections?” he asked sarcastically.
Isa had earlier hit out at Perkasa for threatening to take over Umno’s role in championing the Malay cause. This followed Perkasa chief Datuk Ibrahim Ali’s threat to take over the role of protecting Malay and Islamic rights if Umno failed to do so.
Isa said Perkasa had no right to issue such a threat as the NGO had depended on Umno’s protection all this while.
“Even Perkasa’s fate, we (Umno) take care of. How are they supposed to take over from Umno?” he asked at a function at Menara Felda in Kuala Lumpur on Monday.
“The statement (by Perkasa) was emotional.”
Syed Hassan said Isa should not have raised the matter of how much aid government agencies had extended to Perkasa.
He said Chinese education group Dong Zong obtained a new building while Hindraf leader P. Wayathamoorthy was made deputy minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, but Perkasa did not ask for anything despite its contributions.
“My advice to Isa is to take care of Felda and never let Perkasa find out any wrongdoings,” Syed Hassan said.
“Let it be known that Perkasa had set up a committee in Felda since 2011 to check on any discrepancies within.”
