DAP has run foul of the Registrar of Societies’ (RoS) regulations on the conduct of the last two party elections, said DAP veteran Zulkifli Mohd Noor.

Zulkifli, an outspoken critic of the party leadership, said he was not afraid of being expelled from the party and would continue to be critical if a wrong had been committed.

He said he was convinced that DAP had run foul with the RoS over the conduct of the party’s last two elections.

“I was critical of Barisan Nasional and I will continue to be so. But, I will equally censure DAP if they did something wrong. I will speak without fear or favour. Nobody can silence me,” he added.

Zulkifli said the RoS had yet to approve the new central working committee (CEC) line-up, yet the party behaved like nothing went wrong and was operating normally.

He said there were many lawyers in DAP and they should know the laws governing political parties, including the need to seek sanctions from RoS.

“Yet, the DAP chose to ignore the RoS’ advice on providing the documents and fact sheets required by the authority.

“DAP is not just a political party, we are part of state governments. We need to  adhere to the law, not ignore if the clauses do not suit us,” he added.

Since early this year, DAP has been hounded by several quarters, including RoS, for wrongly tabulating the results of the CEC election last December after a technical slip-up occurred in a computer spreadsheet.

The party has since apologised and most of the members have accepted it.

They have moved on, but a few other members went on to lodge reports with the RoS, hence a long investigation has commenced on the party elections.

Despite holding a fresh CEC election just three months ago, the RoS had yet to validate the outcome, made worse when a few DAP members lodged reports claiming poll discrepancies.

Zulkifli said he should be the one to initiate action against the DAP for failing to address his request about being accountable.
