S’gor exco slammed over rising internet gambling

(MM) – Sementa state assemblyman Dr Daroyah Alwi has come underfire from her own party member for failing to resolve several issues including internet gambling centres which are getting more prevalent.

Kapar PKR youth chief Ahmad Kamarudin said the matter was brought to Daroyah when she was PKR Sementa coordinator before the 13th general election but no action was taken.

“I found many internet gambling centres operating in Kapar, Sungai Kapar Indah, Sementa Utama and one gambling centre is near Daroyah’s service centre.

“I want all gambling centres in Sementa closed as the victims are the schoolchildren,” he told reporters at Sementa state assemblyman service centre here yesterday.

He also alleged that Daroyah, the State Health, Entrepreneur Development, Science, Technology and Innovation Committee chairman, did not help victims of a fire in Taman Mas, Kapar.

Meanwhile, Daroyah said she had already directed the Klang Municipal Council to take appropriate action against the gambling centres.

She also Ahmad’s allegation of no assistance saying that aid was handed out to all three families who were victims fo the fire.
