CSMU issue should concern every NGO

Letters-ToThe-Editor

Jeevithan P.Ganasan

My heartiest gratitude goes out to Prof A.A Babanin( Chancellor of CSMU) who provides a chance in a lifetime to further studies, with a full scholarship, for one underprivileged Indian student from Malaysia, every year. Quite recently, CSMU offered Hiranyadhevi Jayaseelan, a 19-year-old female from Kedah, to study medicine in the institute without any fees payable. It is most certainly a good opportunity for her to continue studying & CSMU has agreed to cover all her expenses until she graduates but, sad to note that she would be jobless after graduating from CSMU since the university is not recognized in Malaysia.

The outcome of an hour meeting on November 2011, was a promise made by Datuk Dr. Subramaniam Sathasivam, also known as the MIC deputy president, to give recognition for CSMU. But todate, the promise has not been fulfilled, said Elangovan Annamalai, MIETA Chairman. Therefore, as promised earlier, I have decided to lend a hand to my brother, Elangovan Annamalai, National Chairman at MIETA on the CSMU issue. The NGO Malaysian Young Leaders Association-MYLA ( Northern Region branch ) will offer support in all means to get the recognition for CSMU, because I believe that all our local students should be able to achieve their dreams for a better education. It is my fervent hope that Dr Subra will provide a solution for Hiranya and hundreds of student who are currently struggling with the same situation to have a promising career and future whilst achieving their dreams to become a doctor from a recognized university.

” Ever had the experience whereby your son/daughter cannot get a job because his/her credentials are not recognized? ”

That is the exact reason why we are fighting; to have Medical Students from the Crimea State Medical University (CSMU); one of the most prominent medical schools of Ukraine which is occupied by a majority number of our Malaysian Indian Students; recognized.

Having spent all those years studying and not being recognized for it, is no joke; the time, effort and money spent all gone to waste. Therefore, let us unite as one and support this movement to have our Malaysian Government recognize CSMU so that our younger ones will be able to live out their ambitions and dreams of being a doctor.

We therefore, appreciate all support and cooperation in this movement without prejudice.
