The internal battle between Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim and state PKR deputy president Azmin Ali (pic) intensified after PKNS revealed that it was the state government’s decision to remove Azmin from its board, and not the general manager as claimed by Khalid.
PKNS, or the Selangor State Economic Development Corporation, released a brief statement today clarifying the circumstances of Azmin’s removal.
The Selangor-owned developer revealed only the Selangor exco had the authority to remove members from the PKNS board, and not the general manager.
“PKNS issued a letter to Azmin on January 8 informing the former that the Selangor exco had met on November 13 and decided to terminate his position on the board. The decision was rubber-stamped on December 4,” PKNS working secretary Norita Mohd Sidek said.
PKNS would also like to clarify that under clause 4(1) of the Selangor State Economic Development Corporation Enactment 1964, the power to appoint or remove board members lies with the Selangor exco. The PKNS general manager does not have such authority.”
On Wednesday, Khalid denied any involvement in the decision not to reappoint Azmin Ali as a PKNS director.
He insisted that the decision not to renew Azmin’s tenure on the PKNS board after it expired came from its general manager Othman Omar.
