Selangor MB confirms PKNS’ Othman Omar and Norita transferred

(The Star) – Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim confirmed that Datuk Othman Omar and Norita Abdul Sidek have been removed as general manager and executive secretary from Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS)

He said their removal was to allow investigation into the controversial sacking of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) deputy president Azmin Ali as PKNS board member.

In the meantime, Khalid said Othman and Norita would be temporarily transferred to the State secretariat building to take over administrative positions.

While their letters had yet to be sent to the top officials, Khalid said the sacking of Azmin remains.

Khalid has already asked PKNS to hand him all documents pertaining to the dismissal of  Azmin as a member of the PKNS board of directors.

He said it was necessary to have those documents to resolve the confusion that had arisen following the alleged dismissal of the Gombak MP from the board.

Abdul Khalid declined to comment on Azmin’s criticism of him on his Twitter account several days ago, but said he promised to end all the speculation that had surfaced following Azmin’s dismissal from the PKNS board of directors.

The issue over Azmin’s dismissal has become a hot topic, with the state government and PKNS pointing fingers at each other.

On Saturday, Abdul Khalid was reported to have refuted an allegation that he was involved in making the decision, saying that Azmin’s alleged dismissal was proposed by PKNS general manager Othman Omar.

However, Norita has refuted the menteri besar’s statement, saying that the authority to appoint a member of the PKNS board of directors rested with the state executive council chaired by the menteri besar, and not with the general manager, as stated in Clause 4 (1) of the Selangor State Development Corporation Enactment.
