Rumour that Khalid is resigning from his position is nonsense, says his press secretary Arfa’eza Abdul Aziz.

(FMT) – Speculation on whether Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim will be resigning as the Selangor state chief is nonsense and baseless, said his press secretary Arfa’eza Abdul Aziz.

“Nonsense. Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim is chairing a brainstorming session with exco members and head of departments on strategies for a sustainable economy for Selangor.

“Check his tweets,” she told FMT via sms.

A Chinese newspaper had earlier reported that Abdul Khalid had announced his resignation.

For the last 48 hours, rumours had been circulating that Khalid is resigning and the new menteri besar will be PKR deputy president Azmin Ali.

Both Khalid and Azmin have been at loggerheads since 2008.

It is an open secret that the duo are not the best friends in PKR and this relationship hit a new low when Azmin was removed as a board member of the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS).

In a letter by PKNS general manager Othman Omar dated Jan 8, Azmin was told that his contract with PKNS will not be extended. It is learnt that Azmin had accepted the decision.

It was claimed that the decision to remove Azmin was masterminded by Khalid because of the upcoming PKR elections in May.

Khalid announce in a press conference last week, that the decision to remove Azmin was made solely by Othman and without his knowledge.

Khalid stressed that he and his exco had not said anything regarding Azmin’s removal from the PKNS board meeting.
