(The Star) – Weekly news magazine The Heat will be back on the streets next month, following a Home Ministry decision to lift the suspension on the paper.

News portal The Ant, a sister publication of The Heat, reported The Heat editor-in-chief David Lee as saying the decision was conveyed to the newsweekly’s publisher Satria Kiara Sdn Bhd in a letter dated Jan 24.

It was signed by the ministry’s publications and Quranic text division head Hashimah Nik Jaafar, on behalf of the ministry’s secretary-general.

The ministry allowed the paper to continue its operation without any change to its current publishing permit and the paper would hit the streets again after the Chinese New Year holidays.

Lee said the publication will be back in circulation on Feb 7.

The Heat was suspended indefinitely on Dec 19, 2013 for violating provisions of its printing permit.

The ministry said three days later the suspension, which came after the publication of its Dec 14 to Dec 20 edition, was not due to articles about the Prime Minister, as widely speculated.

The paper had carried a story about how Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, allegedly spend their money.
