Cops: PKR supporter claims receiving payment to deliver Kesavan’s letter
(The Star) – A 61-year-old man, who delivered Hutan Melintang assemblyman S. Kesavan’s purported resignation letter to the Perak assembly speaker’s office, claims to have been paid to do so.
State police chief Senior Deputy Comm Datuk Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said on Friday that the man told police during questioning that he had received payment from a stranger to deliver the letter.
“The man claims to be an avid supporter of PKR and that he had met the stranger at a party programme in Kajang.
“He also claims to have no knowledge about the contents of the letter,” SDCP Acryl Sani told reporters here, adding that police were on the look out for the so-called stranger.
On Tuesday, a letter dated Jan 2, in which Kesavan had allegedly declared he was resigning as an assemblyman and quitting PKR due to loss of confidence and dissatisfaction with the leadership, was delivered to the Speaker’s office.
Kesavan subsequently lodged a police report over the matter while party leaders also denied that the Hutan Melintang assemblyman had resigned.
