Anwar as Selangor MB still under discussion
(Bernama) – Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said today whether Opposition leader and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) de facto head Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will succeed him as the menteri besar of the state was still a subject of discusson.
He said this was a matter for the top leadership of Pakatan Rakayat (the opposition pact governing the state) to decide.
“We (PKR) are still discussing it and it has to be discussed by the top leadership of Pakatan Rakyat,” he told reporters after attending a Chinese Year celebration at the Giant Hypermarket in Bukit Tinggi here.
Abdul Khalid said this when asked to comments on Anwar’s remarks to ‘Australia’s Newsline recently that he (Anwar) was in talks to take over Khalid’s post.
The Pakatan Rakyat is made up of PKR, DAP and PAS. Abdul Khalid is also from PKR.
Meanwhile, commenting on Anwar’s call to for an end the public tiff between Khalid and PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali over the termination of the service contracts of 24 staff of Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Selangor Holdings Sdn Bhd (PHSB) on 24 hours notice, Abdul Khalid said there was no tiff between them.
“We are not quarelling. It’s not for others to interfere as it is a state matter which must go through the state executive council,” he said.
Azmin had voiced his displeasure about the removal of the staff and had claimed that Abdul Khalid was using PKNS, the state’s development arm and the parent company of PHSB, to get rid of his political enemies.
