SJKC Chin Woo board of director suspended

(fz.com) – While the land issue for SJK(C) Chin Woo remains unresolved, school chairman Oo Tin Fuan claimed its board of directors has been temporarily suspended.

He told fz.cm today the school was informed about the decision on Thursday by the Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory Education Department.
“As far as I’m concerned, the suspension came after the department discovered several documents in relation to the school land woes were issued illegally by several board members to the department.
“The education department had submitted those documents to the Attorney-General’s Chambers for investigation,” he said, adding that the school has been informed that the board could not operate at the moment until the investigation is finalised.
“I’m disappointed with the acts of certain people which have worsened the problem and damaged the school’s reputation. We have no qualms about accepting the offer made by the government,” Oo added.
He said the school initially had agreed to sign the agreement with the government in March or April, but now it has to be postponed.
“I have written to Tourism and Culture Ministry to inform them about this decision,” he said.
It was reported last month that the school has during its Annual General Meeting (AGM) decided to reject the government’s offer to pay a nominal rental fee of RM1,000 for a 15,000 sq feet of land for 20 years.
It has instead decided to only pay RM10 annually for rental of the land which it has refused to surrender to the ministry. The land was initially proposed to be acquired for the Kota Warisan building and restaurant project.
However, Oo stressed that the decision was void as the AGM was illegal as it has failed to adhere to the 14-day notice period.
