PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim declared war against Umno for continuously burdening the people with rising living cost.
“Who doesn’t feel the burden of the rising cost of living when it is they (Umno) who are spendthrift. If you don’t want to be burdened, hatch a plan to overthrow them,” said Anwar last night.
He was speaking during the launch of Pakatan Rakyat’s women wing election machinery in Taman Prima Saujana.
“How long do you want to continue being their slaves? I am not willing to allow my race to be made as slaves for them.
“Fight them hard. I will rise again and fight them. Tomorrow Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng and I will meet the people of Penang and explain to them at an assembly.
“We will declare war against Umno. Let the whole world know when we boycott parliament seating on March 11,” he said.
On Friday, the Court of Appeal found the 67 year old Opposition Leader guilty of sodomy and sentenced him to serve five years in prison. He was however allowed to post RM10,000 bail.
The ruling derailed his plans to contest in the Kajang by-election.
The Kajang state seat fell vacant following the resignation of incumbent assemblymen Lee Chin Cheh of PKR on Jan 27. The Election Commission fixed March 23 as polling date and nomination day on March 11. Early polling would be held on March 19.
The state seat comprises 39,728 registered voters. At the last general election in May 2013, the seat saw a voter turnout of 87.9% with 541 spoilt votes.
