KUALA LUMPUR: The Selangor State Development Corp (PKNS) hopes to undertake housing projects worth a gross development value (GDV) of RM1 billion this year.

“The development will include mix housing — low-cost and medium-cost — and other ongoing projects. Development in Kota Puteri, Kuala Selangor, is a part of these projects,” PKNS acting general manager Azlan Md Alifiah told The Malaysian Reserve yesterday.

Next year, PKNS is expected to launch development projects worth about RM2 billion, which mainly will come from its Datum Incity project, Azlan said on the sidelines of a seminar on “Value Management and Value Engineering: Achieving Value for Money
Through Best Practices”.

Datum Incity is part of Datum series project from PKNS which will take about two to three years. The Datum series includes InCity, EduCity and Jelatek which is expected to generate RM4.5 billion in GDV.

“We are in the middle of signing with the landowner (for Datum Incity). The booking should start probably next year but we should be getting the government order probably by September or October this year. So that is one of the bigger project for us this year,” Azlan pointed out.

This year PKNS will launch about 1,000 affordable houses in Kota Puteri. Among other projects includes Antara Gapi in Serendah, Bernam Jaya located between Sabak Bernam and Tanjung Malim, and Selangor Science Park 2 in Sepang.

When asked about the rising property prices in the country, he said, “that is a factor of the cost price. We are not looking at reducing the cost price or maintaining it in the near future.”

However, PKNS maintains that with value engineering and open tender process, the developer has been able to save cost.
