Police open investigation paper on Tian Chua
(Bernama) – The police have opened an investigation paper on Batu Member of Parliament (MP) Tian Chua, following an allegedly seditious statement over the decision of the Court of Appeal on Opposition Leader DatukSeri Anwar Ibrahim, in his Twitter account on March 7.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the investigation paper was opened, following a police report yesterday.
He was speaking to reporters after a function at the Kajang police headquarters here today.
Tian Chua, in his Twitter account, @tianchua alleged the five-year jail sentence on Anwar over the sodomy case was made by Prime Minister Datuk SeriNajib Tun Razak.
The MP was also reported to have instigated the people to topple Najib in five months.
Yesterday, Federal Territories People’s Progressive Party chairman Datuk A. Chandrakumanan lodged a report at the Sentul police station on Tian Chua’s allegation, which he regarded as not apt.
On March 7, the Appeals Court found Anwar guilty on a charge of sodomising his personal assistant, Saiful Bukhari Azlan, six years ago.
