(Bernama) – Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) is becoming more irrational when its de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and incumbent president Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail are set to lock horns for the top party post.

Umno supreme council member Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan, who is also Urban Well-being, Housing and Local Government Minister, said the case was unprecedented in national political history.

“PKR has become an irrational party, to me it is very chaotic now. Where can we find in history, a husband and his wife contesting for the same post. Maybe Anwar can show us which country practises this, wife, husband, and even the daughter (are contesting).

“He accuses us of nepotism but his is the biggest (case of) nepotism,” he told reporters after opening the Kota Belud Area Fishermen Association’s annual general meeting and handing over of subsistence allowance here, Sunday.

Abdul Rahman said this when commenting on the decision by Anwar yesterday to challenge Dr Wan Azizah for the post of the president of PKR in the coming party election.

Meanwhile in BUKIT MERTAJAM, Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Sohaimi Shahadab said the contest between Anwar and his wife was the latest drama being played by PKR.

Sohaimi said the decision by the couple was ‘funny’ and could be described as a two-pronged strategy by the PKR and would be used if Anwar failed in his appeal at the Federal Court on his conviction for sodomising his former aide, Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan.

“If Anwar succeeds in ‘defeating’ Wan Azizah, who is also the incumbent PKR president, the Permatang Pauh Member of Parliament would use his position to gain sympathy from the world community by claiming that he had been abused by the government.

“Anwar also wants to create history by becoming a political party president who is imprisoned and tries to give a negative perception on the legal system in this country to the foreigners,” he told reporters after opening the Bankruptcy Briefing by the Bankruptcy Independent Secretariat organised by the Permatang Pauh Umno division, here Sunday.

He said this when asked to comment on Anwar’s move to challenge Wan Azizah for the post of PKR president in the party election in May.
