It’s confirmed, Anwar to take on Wan Azizah for PKR presidency
(TMI) – Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has confirmed that he will take on his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, for PKR’s presidency at its party elections next month.
Incumbent deputy president Azmin Ali is embroiled in a stiff three-cornered tussle against his nemesis, Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, and secretary-general Datuk Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
Party election chairman Datuk Johari Abdul announced that, to date, only two people had withdrawn their bids for the party’s No. 2 post, namely Batu MP Tian Chua and unknown S. Murali.
“For the president’s post, the candidates remain the same,” he said a press conference at the PKR headquarters in Petaling Jaya today.
The PKR elections are scheduled to begin on April 25 and end on May 11.
