(Bernama) – Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) should not revolve around a particular leader but should be entrenched in the grassroots, said its Wanita chief, Zuraida Kamaruddin.

Zuraida said hence, she agreed with PKR deputy president Azmin Ali’s statement that the party was not owned by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
“The party has grown although it is undeniable that its inception culminated from what had happened to Anwar,” she told a news conference here today.
Azmin was reported as saying that PKR should move out of Anwar’s shadow for its survival in the current political landscape.
Meanwhile, Penang Umno Liaison Committee deputy chairman Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican, at a separate function in Kepala Batas, claimed that Azmin’s statement portrayed that PKR was a party led by Anwar’s family.
Reezal Merican, who is Member of Parliament for Kepala Batas, said dramas were rife in PKR with the latest being Anwar challenging his wife, Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail for the presidency next month.
“I do not see the need for Anwar to do so. This is unprecedented in history. They are doing this in the interest of certain quarters in PKR,” he said.
