Anwar Ibrahim reiterates support for hudud
(NST) – Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has made it clear that he does not oppose the implementation of hudud in Kelantan despite strong rejection from DAP.
Anwar said, as a Muslim, he did not oppose hudud law.
“As Muslims, we should not reject it and we are bound to Quranic laws,” he said at a Reformasi 2.0 gathering in Pantai Dalam.
Anwar stressed that it was important, however, to ensure that religious and enforcement departments deliver justice before it could be implemented.
“If this is fixed, then I have no qualms about it,” he added.
He said he had invited Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yaakob to meet Pakatan leaders and discuss how Pas would plan to implement the law in the state before the bill is tabled in Parliament.
