(The Star) – PAS is adamant about implementing hudud and tabling it in Parliament despite protests by its partners DAP and PKR.

PAS vice-president Salahuddin Ayub said the party would stay true to its stand over hudud.

“We also have an important role to play in explaining the concept and objectives behind its implementation to all Malaysians,” he told news portal Malaysian Times yesterday.

“It is also the responsibility of all Muslims to explain to all parties about hudud.”

Salahuddin, who is former Kubang Kerian MP, said Malaysians had the right to voice their opinions, regardless of whether these were positive or negative.

“We are not angry or disappointed with the action and words of those who opposed hudud,” he said.

“We will give our detractors the avenue to speak their minds as Malaysia is a democratic country.”

Fellow party vice-president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan man said PAS would offer a special briefing to the DAP and PKR on Tuesday.

“We are ready to explain in detail … in complying with the requests of our Pakatan Rakyat coalition partners,” he said.

He denied talks that Pakatan had refused to hear PAS’ argument on hudud.
