(Bernama) – PAS is willing to hold discussions with all quarters, including Umno, to explain its plan to implement hudud laws in Kelantan, said its president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang.

He said the discussions were important so that everyone understood clearly how the Islamic laws would be applied in the state.

“We are willing to explain to all quarters including Umno,” he said when asked to comment on a statement by Kelantan Umno chief Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed yesterday that PAS and Umno should hold discussions on the matter so that implementation of the laws was understood and agreed to by both parties.

Hadi was speaking to reporters when met at a fundraising event for the construction of Wisma Ilmuan Kelantan at Pusat Tarbiyah Islamiah Kelantan (Putik) in Kota Baru last night.

Also present were Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob and Deputy Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah.

Asked when the discussions would be held, he said this was up to Umno.

On reports that their Pakatan Rakyat partner Parti Keadilan Rakyat was against the move, Abdul Hadi said PKR had no right to block the implementation of hudud laws in Kelantan.

PAS is planning to move a Private Member’s Bill in Parliament to get the nod to implement hudud laws in Kelantan.
