PKR polls: Interesting race in Negeri Sembilan

One division to watch is Teluk Kemang where M Ravi will be looking retain his top post and a former MIC man attempts a political comeback.

(Free Malaysia Today) – Negeri Sembilan will be one of the interesting states to watch in the PKR polls this Saturday, as party members cast their votes for their national and division leaders.

One division that will definitely catch the attention of not only the media but other Pakatan Rakyat leaders is race for the Teluk Kemang division.

Current division chairman, M Ravi, who is also the Port Dickson state assemblyman, will be challenged by Chuah state assemblyman, Chai Tong Chai.

Kamarul Baharin Abbas, incumbent Negeri Sembilan PKR chairman and Telok Kemang MP, has opted out from the polls completely. Kamarul contested the division’s top post in 2010 and lost to Ravi.

Former MIC state exco, M Muthupalaniappan, is making a political comeback by gunning for the vice chairman’s post. He will be facing off businessman Ng Yong Sam.

Jempol is the only division where there is no contest as all posts were won unopposed. The rest of the seven divisions would see contests for almost all the top posts.

Mohd Nazree Mohd Yunus is vying for the national youth chairman’s post in a three-cornered fight with Seri Setia state assemblyman Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad and Batu Caves state assemblyman Amiruddin Shaari.

Mohd Nazree is also contesting for the Seremban division’s chairman post, challenging incumbent Dr Ahmad Azam Hamzah.

The most crowded contest is for the Tampin division chairman. The candidates are Capt (R) Zolkapli Kassim, Rahmat Hashim, Mahmad Ayub and Latif Tambi.
