‘Worthy candidate’ Huan to contest in Bkt Gelugor
Parti Cinta Malaysia vice-president Huan Cheng Guan says he can offer the third option for the voters
(Free Malaysia Today) – Parti Cinta Malaysia (PCM) vice-president Huan Cheng Guan will contest in the forthcoming Bukit Gelugor parliamentary by-election to offer the people a third force away from politics of Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Rakyat.
He said voters who disagreed with both BN and Pakatan can vote him to become their parliamentary voice.
He promised Bukit Gelugor constituents that he would speak out without fear or favour on issues concerning them.
He said he was running for the seat because the people must not lose sight of how they want to live in their own way without letting over-development and poor town planning destroy the real character of Penang, especially Bukit Gelugor.
“I will be running for Bukit Gelugor seat because Penangites and Malaysians now need a non-partisan voice to fight for their interests and rights, not that of any party, in the parliament,” said Huan, when announcing his candidature at PCM centre in Air Itam this morning.
The by-election is being held following the death of previous MP Karpal Singh from DAP. Karpal was killed in a road accident along the North – South Expressway stretch near Kampar on April 17.
Polling is on May 25 while nomination day is on May 12.
After his press conference, Huan led a group of PCM local leaders to pay tribute and respect to Karpal before the late DAP leader’s portrait.
Formerly Batu Kawan MP and Gerakan vice-president, Huan, 53, will unveil his election manifesto after the nomination day next Monday.
If elected, he promised to set up a permanent servicecentre in the constituency, manned by experienced staff to cater needs of people.
He promised to set up a top notch team to work and outline beneficial state and national policies for him to table in parliament.
“For sure values of fairness, integrity and changes that matter will be hallmarks of my constituency service,” said Huan, who is the first person to announce his candidature for the by-election.
DAP will announce its candidate, who is widely expected to be Karpal’s son Ramkarpal, on Saturday.
