(The Malay Mail) – The DAP should sack Penang lawmaker RSN Rayer first before challenging Umno Youth to take action against its members for their unruly conduct in two protests this week, the wing’s deputy chief Khairul Azwan Harun said today.

In defence of the Umno Youth members who stormed the Penang state legislative assembly on Wednesday and the group that threatened to burn the DAP’s main office here yesterday, Khairul pointed out it was Rayer who had instigated the fracas for his “Umno celaka” remark.

“It started from the DAP lawmaker. There is no point for Umno to take action on them if the DAP themselves don’t punish their lawmaker who started it,” he told The Malay Mail Online.

Asked if Umno should lead by example and take the first step, Khairul said: “that is all I have to say for now”.

Earlier today, two DAP leaders challenged Khairy Jamaluddin to expel the Umno Youth members involved in two aggressive protests this week to demonstrate that his movement does not condone violence.

DAP disciplinary committee chairman Tan Kok Wai and Serdang MP Ong Kian Ming also demanded the Umno Youth chief apologise for his men’s protest outside the DAP office here yesterday and the intrusion into the Penang state assembly on Wednesday.
