BN’s Mah is latest target in Teluk Intan smear battle
(The Malay Mail) – After the smear campaign against DAP’s Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud, a photograph of Datuk Mah Siew Keong is circulating online painting the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate as a sexual harasser preying on women ahead of the Teluk Intan by-election on May 31.
In a news conference today, Datuk Tan Lian Hoe, Gerakan Women’s national chief, whipped out a picture showing Mah standing very close behind a woman, as if he were touching her intimately.
Tan said the picture was posted on a Facebook page last night called “We Fully Support BN To Be Buried 2”.
“The opposition is using dirty tactics,” she told reporters.
The Facebook post on the photograph, which was written in Chinese characters, said: “Anson voters, do you need a person who’s a sexual harasser to be your representative?”
Teluk Intan used to be known as Teluk Anson.
Tan showed another photograph of the same scene — taken from the front angle — that showed the woman, who was preparing roti jala, standing in between Mah and Dyana Sofya.
Tan said the cooking activity involving the 53-year-old Gerakan president and Dyana Sofya was held at a stall at Taman Cicely last Friday.
Just two days ago, posters featuring Dyana Sofya’s image alongside a bikini-clad actress — with whom the 26-year-old shares a striking facial resemblance — were disseminated at predominantly Malay residential areas in Changkat Jong, including a mosque.
When asked how Tan could be certain that the DAP was behind the smear campaign against Mah, she said: “Who’s going to smear our own candidate? It’s ridiculous.”
