They hope to learn more at this Friday’s briefing

Selangor state assemblymen have nearly zero information about the controversial Kidex highway project, according to two of them.

Damansara Utama’s Yeo Bee Yin and Taman Medan’s Haniza Mohamed Talha told FMT the only information they had gained had been provided by Petaling Jaya residents opposed to the project, mostly through the Say No to Kidex (SNTK) movement.

“We have been pushing for information regarding the project,” Yeo said. “Fortunately, on June 6, we will be briefed for the first time.”

She was referring to a meeting that Petaling Jaya Mayor Alinah Ahmad has called for and which will be attended by state assemblymen, Petaling Jaya city councillors, MPs whose constituencies are in Selangor as well as representatives of the Malaysian Highway Authority, the Works Ministry, the Town and Country Planning Department and Kidex Sdn Bhd.

Last Sunday, Yeo attended a briefing conducted by Eileen Tong, who chairs the SS2 Rukun Tetangga committee.

“I cannot say no to the project till I have all the information I need,” she said. “I have to be fair to both Say No to Kidex and Kidex Sdn Bhd.”

Both Haniza and Yeo said they hoped this Friday’s briefing would include a disclosure of the concession agreement that the Selangor government and Kidex Sdn Bhd signed last November.
