Isma chief pleads not guilty to sedition charge

ISMA president Abdullah Zaik Abdul Rahman was charged over an article labelling the Chinese as ‘intruders’

(Free Malaysia Today) – Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (ISMA) president Abdullah Zaik Abdul Rahman pleaded not guilty to a sedition charge at a Sessions Court here over an article labelling the Chinese as “intruders”.

Abdullah Zaik, 48, claimed trial at the Kajang Sessions Court  before judge Nor Hazani Hamzah.

He was charged for committing the offence at ISMA’s headquarters in Bangi on May 6 under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948.

Abdullah Zaik also pleaded not guilty to an alternative charge that caused the remarks to be published on ISMA’s website on the same day, under Section 4(1)(b) of the same act.

He was charged under Section 4(1)(b) of the Sedition Act, and an alternative charge under Section 4(1) (c) of the same act over the remarks made on May 6.

If convicted, he would be liable for a fine of up to RM5,000 or jail of not more than three years or both.
