Khalid’s supporters clamouring for recount

(Free Malaysia Today) – The Selangor Menteri Besar’s political secretary Azman Abdullah smells something fishy in Saturday’s PKR Kuala Selangor division polls.
Former Kapar MP S Manikavasagam clinched 701 votes to Khalid’s 515 for the division chief’s post.
Azman said it was puzzling because Khalid was leading when electricity was cut off at the party’s headquarters in Tropicana where the counting took place early Sunday.
He claimed that after the power was restored two hours later, some 100 spoilt votes “miraculously” seemed to go to Manikavasagam.
“Checks with Tenaga Nasional Berhad showed that there was no supply interruption in Tropicana,” he said.
Khalid, however, managed to obtain more votes than incumbent Azmin Ali for the deputy president’s race.
Manikavasagam’s team won all the top posts in the division.
“It is a clean sweep. And I couldn’t have asked for a better birthday present,” said Manikavasagam, who turned 49.
