Liow condemns cow’s head incident, stresses need for respect
(The Star) – MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai has condemned the incident where a skinned cow’s head was found in front of the home of Penang Seri Delima assemblyman R.S.N Rayer.
“This is an irresponsible act. We condemn such an act. It can bring tension among the races.
“This is a multi-racial country and we need to be sensitive towards the need of every race.
“We have to respect every race and promote harmony in the country,” the Transport Minister said after attending the opening ceremony for the Ampang LRT’s new multi-level car park here Saturday.
Liow was asked to comment on the incident where the severed cow’s head was thrown in front of the DAP assemblyman’s house early Saturday.
Rayer is a Hindu. Cows are considered sacred and holy for the Hindus and should not be harmed.
Rayer has been embroiled in a controversy ever since he uttered the words ‘celaka Umno’ at last month’s state assembly.
However, Rayer said that he was referring to certain Umno leaders and not the entire party.
