DAP reps misled PJ residents over Kidex
An MCA member claims the state assemblymen and MPs did not inform the public that the state exco approved the highway project
(Free Malaysia Today) – DAP state assemblymen and Pakatan Rakyat MPs have been accused of misleading the public for not telling them that it was the Selangor state executive council (Exco) which approved the controversial Kidex project.
“These incompetent and dishonest state representatives and MPs have chosen to mislead and keep the public in the dark all these years,” said its MCA PJ Utara division youth chief Andy Lee Vee Meng.
He claimed that the Exco gave Kidex Sdn Bhd the approval on Feb 23, 2012 for the construction of the Kinrara-Damansara Expressway.
“The Exco was the main authority which also gave the nod for the alignment proposed by Kidex Sdn Bhd,” he said.
But he alleged that the DAP assemblymen never told the public about it.
Lee said that on July 18, 2013, the state Exco had published a gazette under Section 4 of the Land Acquisition Act freezing 3,784 land lots within 100m of the expressway’s proposed corridor. This meant the lots could not be traded.
The DAP members who were sitting in the Exco then were Teresa Kok (Seputeh MP) and former Exco member Ronnie Liu, who was also the state chairman in charge of local government from 2008-2013.
Currently, the DAP members in the state Exco are Ean Yong Hian Wah (Seri Kembangan) and Teng Chang Kim (Sungai Pinang).
All of them including Damansara Utara state assemblywoman Yeo Bee Yin, Bukit Gasing assemblyman Rajiv Rishyakaran are also sitting in the Selangor DAP state committee.
Big question mark
Lee said that for Rajiv and Yeo, among others, to claim that they were not aware of Kidex has thrown a big question mark.
“These (elected representatives) did not consult the local residents before approving Kidex,” he said.
He pointed out that as the project is an expressway, it must affect state land and the local authority (Petaling Jaya City Council) local plans.
“Therefore, the main approving authority is the exco (the highest decision-making body of the state government),” he said.
“It is their responsibility to take into account the interests of Petaling Jaya residents before making a decision. They have failed to do so,” he added.
