Muhyiddin is right, we are moving towards racial conflict, says Isma

Abdullah Zaik Abdul Rahman

(The Malaysian Insider) – Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma) president Abdullah Zaik Abd Rahman is backing the deputy prime minister’s statement that the country could see another bloody incident if no efforts were made to preserve interethnic harmony.

He reminded the Muslim community to be aware  of the threat they faced, adding that the country was moving towards an era of racial conflict.

Abdullah, in an interview posted on Isma’s official website www.ismaweb.net yesterday titled “Islam under threat: Strong evidence to show truth in  Muhyiddin’s claims”,   said that there was strong evidence to support the claim that certain quarters were trying to force their will on Malay Muslims and deny their rights as promised under the Federal Constitution.

Abdullah was speaking in support of recent remarks by Muhyiddin who was quoted in a report by Utusan Malaysia as saying that ‎the growing tension between the different racial groups could potentially lead to a dark moment in the history of the nation.

“That is why all sorts of assumptions are raised when ethnic ties become strained and unhealthy. This could lead to that incident, and I do not want to mention the date (May 13, 1969),” Muhyiddin had said.

Muhyiddin had also expressed fears over the insults allegedly hurled at Malays and Muslims of late.‎

Abdullah reiterated that there was enough proof to substantiate what the deputy prime minister had said, adding that there was also meticulous planning going on that could cause the Malay race to be sidelined and suffer in their own land.

Abdullah also said that there was no controversy in what the deputy prime minister had said, dismissing the DAP’s allegation that Muyhiddin was an extremist and against non-Malays.

“They (DAP) are the ones who are extremists and going overboard,” Abdullah said.
