(Astro Awani) – Selangor Backbenchers Club (Selangor BBC) chairman Mohamed Azmin Ali advised all quarters to stop speculating on the change of the state’s Menteri Besar.

He urged for more attention to be given to the state’s development projects instead.

“I advise everyone to stop all speculations. Party leaders and members need to concentrate on developing Selangor.

“Let’s not slander or make personal attacks during this holy month of Ramadan, let’s work as a team,” Mohamed Azmin said after chairing the Selangor BBC meeting at the Selangor state secretariat today.

He said, the issue of changing the menteri besar would be discussed collectively, however, the Selangor Pakatan Rakyat leadership at this point in time has taken a stand to focus on working towards developing the state.

Mohamed Azmin said this to newsmen when he was asked to explain the call for Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim to step down as Selangor MB in the PKR Central Leadership Council meeting last Jan 15.

Following that meeting, PKR was said to have laid out a strategy to replace Abdul Khalid via the Kajang by-election in a move called the “Kajang move.”

“Our stand is, stop with the speculations, stop defaming and focus on developing the state. This is what we agreed on in the meeting today; we discuss issues that safeguard the interest of the rakyat,” Mohamed Azmin said.

“The (Kajang) by-election is over and the decision has been made. Now is time for us to work. When there is a need to discuss that (change of MB) issue, we will discuss it collectively,” he continued.

The matter of the change of Selangor MB was reignited following the public call made by several PKR leaders, among them PKR Youth chief Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin and chief aspirant Amirudin Shari.

PKR defacto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had also raised his concern about the Selangor state administration under Abdul Khalid’s leadership.
