Khalid denies joining Umno or PAS
Selangor Menteri Besar refutes reports that he is leaving PKR for either Umno or PAS
(Free Malaysia Today) – Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim has denied that he is going to join Umno and that he held a separate meeting with Umno president Najib Tun Razak on it.
He explained that he was at a buka puasa event where Najib was also present and his attendance was not to protect his position.
He attended the event because he was invited and out of respect for Najib who is the Prime Minister.
The Port Klang assemblyman also denied he held discussion with PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang yesterday in a bid to join the Islamist party.
“The night before I was photographed with Najib, I was photographed with Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and last night with Hadi.
“Based on these pictures, I’ve joined many parties already,” he told reporters after presenting incentives to the 2014 Malaysia Games (Sukma) Selangor contingent last evening.
Anwar is PKR supremo.
Meanwhile, Najib is reported to have also denied holding a four-eyed meeting with Khalid at the Buka Puasa event.
Najib also said the allegation that the latter was asked to join Umno as baseless.
