GLCs told to provide RM7 billion to develop Bumiputera firms

(The Malaysian Insider) – Putrajaya has directed government-linked companies (GLC) to generate RM7 billion in business opportunities for Bumiputera firms this year, Prime Minister Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said today.

Najib (pic) said the GLCs’ key performance indicators, developed by the Putrajaya Committee on GLC High Performance (PCG), were “based on merit, transparent, market friendly and able to assist the Bumiputera community to be competitive”.

Speaking after chairing a meeting of the Bumiputera Economic Council in Putrajaya today, Najib was quoted by Bernama as saying that among the business opportunities are creating 50 new vendors under the Vendor Development Programme (VDP), nine new anchor companies, and an additional RM700 million through the Crave Out & Compete programme.

He also announced RM2 billion for procurement, RM527 million for expenditure and RM100 million for entrepreneurship development.
