(Malay Mail Online) – Kuantan police have detained the woman videoed verbally assaulting an elderly man in a road bully case on Monday and will investigate her for criminal intimidation and mischief.

The Star Online quoted Kuantan district police chief Asst Comm Abdul Aziz Salleh as confirming Siti Fairrah Ashykin Kamaruddin’s arrest after she arrived at the station earlier today.

ACP Abdul Aziz did not say how long the 30-year-old woman would be held.

“That will depend on the investigations, let us look into the matter first,” he was quoted as saying.

The district police chief also said that Siti Fairrah had thrown the steering lock — her weapon of choice during the road rage incident — “somewhere in Kuantan”, the portal reported.

The woman is being investigated for “committing mischief and thereby causing damage to the amount of twenty-five ringgit” under Section 427 of the Penal Code and criminal intimidation under Section 506 of the same law.

Both sections prescribe jail terms of up to two years, or a fine or both, as punishment upon conviction.

A social media storm erupted this week after the video documenting the woman verbally abusing an elderly Chinese man and hitting his car with a steering lock was uploaded on video-sharing site YouTube.

In the 2:33-minute clip, the Malay woman is shown smashing away at the elderly man’s car following a fender bender and demanding RM2,000 for the accident.

Frustrated that the man would not pay her on the spot, she then abused him racially.

The police have since confirmed that the 68-year-old road bully victim was fined for failing to yield when exiting a junction and causing the accident.

Despite the verbal attack, the man has refused to lodge a report against the woman on the matter, earning him the affection of Internet users who have taken to calling him “uncle”.

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar called the woman “fierce”, however, and said the police will investigate her for road bullying.

Siti Fairrah has apologised for her actions.
