(The Star) – Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim should take responsibility for Pakatan Rakyat’s declining popularity in Selangor and step down as its Mentri Besar immediately, said Ronnie Liu.

“Khalid should take responsibility over Pakatan’s loss of popularity in Selangor,” the former state executive councillor on his Facebook page Wednesday.

Liu was referring to a recent survey by Universiti Malaya’s Centre for Democracy and Elections’ (Umcedel), which showed that Pakatan’s popularity in Selangor had gone down from 50% in 2012 to 35% last year.

“This means that if a general election is to happen tomorrow, Pakatan will not be victorious,” he said.

He added that if the MB was changed now, there was still time to remedy weaknesses in the party.

Liu said that the reason for the loss of popularity in the state was due to factors such as the unresolved water issue, dissatisfaction over the proposed Kinrara-Damansara Expressway (Kidex) and Khalid’s failure in handling the Bible seizure issue.

“You have been given two chances by Pakatan Rakyat and Parti Keadilan Rakyat.

“Now you have been asked to step down due to poor performance, as well as implementation of policies and rules that burdens the people,” he wrote.
