(The Malaysian Insider) – PKR’s ‘Kajang Move’, which was supposed to have brought the opposition closer to Putrajaya, has backfired badly and caused divisions within Pakatan Rakyat, Utusan Malaysia commented today.

“It is quite clear that the primary purpose of the ‘Kajang Move’ was to remove Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim,” wrote Utusan‘s news editor Zulkifli Jalil.

“The main purpose of the ‘Kajang Move’ was not to drive Pakatan Rakyat closer to Putrajaya, but to install a new menteri besar in Khalid’s place.”

Zulkifli said all the early trumpeting by PKR about transformation and lifting Selangor to greater heights was just an excuse to remove Khalid.

“The truth is out in the open now as everything has fallen apart. The real intention of the ‘Kajang Move’ was to place PKR president Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as the new MB.”

Utusan Malaysia reported that the ‘Kajang Move’ had been executed without taking into consideration the feelings of the rakyat.

Zulkifli said that PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang had raised several pertinent facts when voicing his support for the embattled Khalid.

Hadi had said last week that Khalid had not betrayed the trust of the rakyat in Selangor nor has he been involved in any scandals or trust issues regarding public funds.

“If Khalid had been involved in a scandal, committed criminal breach of trust or abused the taxpayer’s funds, then we can replace him.”

“But if we use other excuses, then it is not right to remove him as menteri besar now. It is better to let him finish his term,” Hadi reportedly said.
