PKR’s dossier questionable

It does not give evidence of Khalid’s alleged corruption, but merely lists suspicions of wrongdoing

PKR’s dossier lists down the reasons why Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim needs to be ousted and highlights the questionable decisions he has made. Basically, the document does not give evidence of corruption, but merely a list of suspicions.

In short, PKR is not sure whether Khalid is honest or not and because of this he must be considered guilty and sacked from his job. Do Khalid’s accusers have enough evidence to lodge a report with the police or MACC so that he can be arrested and charged? Actually no. But when you are Menteri Besar, no evidence is needed, it seems. Mere suspicion is good enough.

This violates one of the basic principles that Pakatan Rakyat and PKR are supposed to hold to. And that is the prime reason why PAS leaders Abdul Hadi Awang and Nik Aziz Nik Mat do not support the move to oust Khalid. They both consider it extremely unIslamic to punish someone over a suspicion.

One of the reasons cited for Khalid’s loss of suitability to continue as Menteri Besar is poor management of garbage collection, which by the way has nothing to do with abuse of power or corruption by Khalid. Actually this is a problem specific to Kajang, which is represented in the state assembly by Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail. The fault lies with the Kajang local council rather than the Menteri Besar’s office.

Dr Wan Azizah could not resolve the matter; so she passed the problem to the state to handle, which it is doing, as reported in Selangorku.com

As for the water deal, it appears that the matter is also aboveboard and there is no hanky-panky behind what happened. In fact, the deal had already been earlier approved by the State Executive Council, as confirmed by one of its members, Teng Chang Khim of DAP.
