Anwar: PKR not bound by Syura council decision
(The Star) – PKR is not bound by the decision of the PAS Syura council that backed Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim to retain his Selangor Mentri Besar post, said PKR adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
“The PAS Syura council is not the Pakatan Syura council.
“PAS cannot make a decision on behalf of PKR. In solidarity of Pakatan, we respect their views,” he told a press conference at the PKR headquarters yesterday.
He, however, said he respected their decision and would take into account everybody’s views on the matter.
He said he would give the PAS leadership additional information on the reasons for replacing Khalid.
Asked if Khalid would be sacked from the party, Anwar said a decision would be made by the party’s supreme council.
Asked if what he is doing to Khalid is similar to what was done to him when he was ousted from Umno in 1998, Anwar said the two situations were different.
“I don’t think it is correct to equate that sort of the rancorous exchange in 1998 to the situation now.
“I came to fight Umno, not to strengthen it. That is a very important principle here,” he said.,
He added that Khalid was like a family member and he did not want their relationship strained.
