Selangor MB crisis: Khalid’s expulsion not meant to pressure PAS, says Saifuddin

(The Star) – PKR’s decision to expel Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim from the party is not a move to pressure PAS into withdrawing support for the embattled Selangor Mentri Besar, said Datuk Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

“This has nothing to do with PAS. He is a PKR member and the party has the right to exercise its decision on the matter,” added the party secretary-general.

On Friday, Khalid had issued a second reply to the party’s disciplinary committee, requesting for his hearing to be postponed to Aug 15 as he had been given too short a notice to attend.

In his written response, Khalid also questioned why the party had demanded an explanation on issues that fell under the executive powers of the state, as it was only authorised to question him on party-related offences.

The party’s decision means that, for the time being at least, Khalid, who is Port Klang assemblyman, is an independent Mentri Besar.
