Selangor MB Crisis: PAS’ doors open to Khalid, says Kelantan MB
(The Star) – Ousted Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim is free to join PAS as he has been sacked by PKR, said Kelantan MB Datuk Ahmad Yakob (pic above, right).
The Dewan Ulama acting chief said it was up to Khalid to join PAS as its doors are always open to him.
“It is up to him to join PAS now that he is no longer a PKR member after Saturday.
But whatever it is, we will have to wait for the outcome of his audience with Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah to receive royal advice on his next course of action,” said Ahmad.
Ahmad, who is the Kelantan Mentri Besar told reporters this after attending a Hari Raya function organised by the Kelantan State Economic Corporation here on Sunday.
He was asked about Khalid’s sacking by the PKR disciplinary committee for not heeding calls to step down as the Mentri Besar and give way to Datin Sri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to replace him.
PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang and PAS spiritual adviser Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat had thrown their support for Abdul Khalid to remain as the Mentri Besar until the end of his term.
Ahmad added PAS was willing to go on its own should the party’s members and leaders decide to leave PR.
“We have a history of going on our own despite our differences with BN and Semangat 46. I agree with Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz that PAS could stand on it’s own should it make a decision to leave Pakatan Rakyat,” said Ahmad.
He called on PAS leaders, members and supporters to keep calm and wait for the party’s final decision on whether to remain in the coalition, which is set for next week.
Ahmad however said that he was confident that PAS would not leave PR adding that the present crisis was an acid test of their faith and tolerance for each other.
He added the decision by PKR to sack Khalid was their prerogative and that PAS had made its stand through the Syura Council and Dewan Ulama.
