All eyes on Hannah Yeoh
Izhar Moslim, Malay Mail Online
Questions are being raised about Khalid Ibrahim’s RM70 mil debt that was settled out of court and the links to Umno perhaps via the Selangor water asset restructuring deal with Federal Government and the land deal with Tropicana/Dijaya.
Now let’s ask ourselves. Why would Umno or proxies spend RM70 mil on Khalid Ibrahim?
In 2014, under the water asset restructuring deal between the Federal and State Government in 2014, the State’s investment arm Kumpulan Darul Ehsan Bhd (KDEB) offered RM5.58bil to Puncak and Syabas. Both companies are often linked to Umno by Pakatan Rakyat.
But did you know that in 2010, Syarikat Pengeluar Air Sungai Selangor Sdn Bhd (SPLASH) offered Puncak Group a total of RM6.079 bil (RM1.936b for Puncak, RM4.143b for SYABAS)?
So, if it was about making money, why didn’t the Umno-linked water concessionaires accept the higher offer from SPLASH whose shareholders include Gamuda, KDEB and Tan Sri Wan Azmi Wan Hamzah’s The Sweet Water Alliance?
Till today, only three out of four water concessionaires in Selangor have accepted the takeover offer from KDEB. SPLASH rejected the offer because KDEB is offering them only about 10 per cent of their net asset value and Khalid Ibrahim is firm on this.
Why, Hannah? Why did Khalid Ibrahim do that?
As early as April 2013, BN Selangor Deputy Chairman Mohd Zin Mohamed had raised questions on the 1,172 acres of land deal between Permodalan Negeri Selangor Bhd and Dijaya Corporation Bhd. He asked why did the State rush the transaction and suggested that the sale should have been RM100 per square foot, instead of the transacted price of RM25 per square foot.
Why, Hannah? Why did Khalid Ibrahim do that?
Three days after the General Election in May 2013, DAP expressed support for Khalid Ibrahim to be retained as Selangor Menteri Besar for a second term. The party said “Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim should be recognised for his integrity and stewardship of Selangor.”
Fast forward to today, what is DAP saying about Khalid Ibrahim?
Selangor’s Select Committee of Competency, Accountability and Transparency (SELCAT) has a lot of work to do. It is amusing to see PKR HQ talking about Khalid Ibrahim’s integrity but not SELCAT. It is also mind boggling how Khalid Ibrahim’s debt settlement is being linked to Umno when Umno has been talking about Khalid Ibrahim’s issues all these while.
So what is the truth on Khalid Ibrahim, Hannah?
Someone must go down in this political mess and it won’t be Hannah Yeoh. It is clear that PKR and DAP have decided to abandon Khalid Ibrahim and Anwar wants Khalid Ibrahim to accept the decision and move on.
But will Hannah Yeoh abandon Khalid Ibrahim?
As Madam Speaker of the House, Hannah Yeoh holds the key to resolve the political crisis in Selangor.
Selangor State Assembly’s Standing Order 10 (2) reads:
Disyaratkan, iaitu, jika Dewan telah ditangguhkan dengan tidak menetapkan hari mesyuarat akan datang, Tuan Speaker bolehlah menetapkan harinya; dan dengan itu Setiausaha Dewan hendaklah menghantar surat pemberitahu hari yang ditetapkan itu kepada setiap ahli sekurang-kurangnya dua puluh lapan hari sebelumnya.
The State Assembly sitting is usually adjourned sine die.
I stand corrected but my interpretation of the above is that this means the Speaker has the right to set the date for the next State Assembly meeting, as early as the first week of September 2014 (28 days from today).
Don’t let DAP and yourself be a puppet for Anwar Ibrahim. All eyes are on you, Hannah. What will you do next?
