(The Star) – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has begun probing allegations of graft against Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim, its chief commissioner Tan Sri Abu Kassim Mohamed said Tuesday.

“As I have said, it is my job to investigate all corruption cases without fear or favour.

“If anyone makes a complaint, MACC will process it before classifying the complaint on whether to proceed or not,” he told reporters after presenting MACC’s annual report to Dewan Negara president Tan Sri Abu Zahar Ujang.

He said the anti-graft body would institute investigations following classification of the case.

While confirming that classification of the probe was under process with deputy chief commissioner Datuk Seri Shukri Abdull, Abu Kassim refused to divulge further details.

When met later, Shukri remained tight-lipped on the matter.

Last Wednesday, Khalid’s chief private secretary Mohamad Yasid Bidin lodged a report with the MACC over allegations made against the MB.

Mohamad Yasid said he lodged the report in his capacity as a staff member of the MB’s office and also because the parties who made the allegations against Khalid had not lodged a report with the authorities.

The report was based on allegations made by PKR secretary-general Datuk Saifuddin Nasution with regard to Khalid’s business dealings and sale of state land to a  private company.
