(The Star) – PAS President Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang has asked PKR de-facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to furnish another name for the post of Selangor Mentri Besar, sources claim.

Hadi is believed to have told Anwar at a meeting in Terengganu on Monday that his party was not agreeable to the candidacy of PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

Harakah Daily, PAS’ news organ, quoted party secretary-general Datuk Mustafa Ali as saying that the meeting took place for an hour.

Mustafa however declined to elaborate on the details of the discussion.

Also present at the meeting held at a hotel in Kuala Ibai, according to Harakah Daily, were Hadi’s political secretary Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar and PKR secretary-general Datuk Saifuddin Nasution.

Pakatan Rakyat is currently in limbo as the Mentri Besar crisis plays out.

While PKR and DAP are agreeable to the removal of Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim from his post, PAS has announced that it will make a final decision on the issue at a meeting on Aug 17.

A source said that PAS would not oppose PKR nominating Wan Azizah for the top post but wanted an alternate candidate named.

“PAS is open to (PKR deputy president) Azmin Ali or (PKR’s Ijok assemblyman) Dr Idris Ahmad as Menteri Besar,” he said.

The source said that negotiations between PKR and PAS for the Selangor Menteri Besar post have broken down.
