Selangor MB crisis: PAS reps bound to support Khalid, says Kelantan Deputy MB

(The Star) – All 15 PAS representatives in Selangor are bound to support Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim as the state Mentri Besar, says Kelantan Deputy Mentri Besar Datuk Mohd Amar Abdullah.

He said the support was mandatory and in accordance with the decision made by the PAS Syura Council to back Khalid as the Selangor Mentri Besar until his term ends.

“The Syura Council is the highest decision-making body of the party, therefore all PAS leaders and assemblymen must abide by the decision and that they must support Khalid until the council reverses the decision.

“The order was also given to PAS state executive councillors within Khalid’s cabinet,” he told reporters at his office here on Tuesday.

Mohd Amar added that as long as DAP executive councilors had not resigned, it showed that they too supported Khalid as the top executive of the state although in principle, DAP was with PKR to oust Khalid.

“Technically, Khalid has the mandate of the majority of the assemblymen within the Selangor to continue as mentri besar,” he said.

He added that the crisis in Selangor is unique as Khalid was the first party-less mentri besar in the history of Selangor politics.
