Wan Azizah gets royal snub

Sultan refuses to give her an audience

(Free Malaysia Today) – The Sultan of Selangor has refused to grant an audience to PKR President Wan Azizah Ismail, a press statement from the palace said today.

The statement said the palace had received a letter from opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, which requested the audience for Wan Azizah so that she could explain PKR’s decision regarding Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim.

“His Highness decreed that I inform Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim that he does not wish to grant an audience to the President of Parti Keadilan Rakyat for the purpose of explaining (PKR’s decision) on the ground that Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Abdul Khalid bin Ibrahim has already had an audience concerning his position as the Menteri Besar of Selangor,” added the statement, which was signed by the Sultan’s private secretary, Mohamad Munir Bani.

Munir said the Sultan was of the opinion that Khalid’s expulsion from PKR was an internal party matter which did not affect Khalid’s position as Menteri Besar.

“His Highness does not wish to interfere in the internal affairs of Parti Keadilan Rakyat,” he added.
