A grinning Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim today produced the written consent from the Sultan of Selangor for him to sack five state executive councillors from PKR and DAP, refuting allegations he did so illegally and without the ruler’s approval.
According to the Selangor mentri besar, the Selangor palace’s nod was obtained just two hours after he submitted a formal application to sack the five for refusing to co-operate with him.
“The Sultan gave his consent to terminate the appointment of the excos on the advice of the mentri besar in writing.
“The termination is therefore legal… I wrote a letter at 2pm and His Highness gave a written reply at 4pm,” he told reporters at a news conference here.
Khalid displayed a copy of the Sultan’s written consent at the same event.
“I have no issue if Tan Sri, as Mentri Besar terminates their service.”
Khalid said the refusal of the PKR and DAP excos to support his administration was also a violation of the loyalty pledges the 10 state officials had recited in front of the Sultan of Selangor during their appointments.
The Selangor MB also clarified that one PKR representative, Rodziah Ismail, has not been sacked as she is currently abroad.
“We will wait for her to come back; if she chooses to cooperate, she can continue,” he said.
Khalid added that he met Rodziah prior to her departure, but declined to divulge the details of their meeting.
