Selangor state secretary orders sacked excos to clear out offices

(Malay Mail Online) – The sacked PKR and DAP state executive councillors have been directed by Selangor State Secretary Datuk Mohamed Khusrin Munawi to vacate their offices at the State Secretariat with immediate effect.

In a report by national news agency Bernama, Mohamed Khusrin said their sackings announced yesterday by Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim were undertaken with the consent of the state ruler.

The five excos turned up at the State Secretariat Building this morning insisting that they remained in office and that their removal by Khalid was done illegally.

“The order for their sacking was consented to by the Sultan of Selangor, and effective August 12 they are no longer allowed to continue their duties.

“For the time being, there is no order on when they must empty out the offices, but they will be allowed in to pack up their belongings for the time being,” Khusrin was quoted as saying by Bernama.

Khalid today also produced a letter of consent from the state ruler for him to remove the five from office, refuting allegations that he did so without seeking the Sultan’s approval.

He also clarified that he had dropped five excos instead of the six previously reported, saying that he will decide the fate of PKR’s Rodziah Ismail when she returns to the country.

Khalid yesterday announced the sackings of the PKR and DAP representatives for allegedly undermining his position as Selangor mentri besar.

He is now running the Selangor administration with the support of four PAS excos, the minimum number he is required to have according to the state constitution.

PKR’s disciplinary committee expelled Khalid from the party last week for his open defiance of the party’s decision that he must step down to make way for PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

The embattled mentri besar’s sacking leaves PR in a precarious state in Selangor, and adds to worries that snap polls may have to be called to ward off a stalemate.

Without Khalid, PKR’s share of the 56-seat Selangor state assembly drops to 13 from 14 while allies DAP and PAS have 15 seats each. Umno, the opposition in the state, holds 12.
