Selangor MB crisis: Khalid wanted to call for snap polls in November, says DAP’s Teng
(The Star) – Sacked exco member Datuk Teng Chang Khim claimed a ‘reliable source’ told him that Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim was planning to stay on until November before calling for snap polls.
“Some people just prefer to hold on to their powers as long as possible,” said Teng, when asked what he thought the reason was to call for snap polls in November and not now.
On the best way to resolve the crisis, he said it was to call for an emergency state sitting to decide on Khalid’s fate.
“I don’t want to waste my time filing lawsuits against him (Khalid),” he told a press conference Thursday.
Teng has started packing his belongings from former office at the third floor of the State Secretariat building.
He has also returned his official car.
The sacked exco members have one week to vacate their offices at the building.
Teng, who is Sungai Pinang assemblyman, reiterated DAP and PKR’s stand was for Khalid to step down.
“I am very disappointed if he thinks the whole process has to go through the state assembly.
“Under the provisions of the Standing Order, he has to call for (an emergency) state assembly meeting so the motion of no confidence vote can be conducted,” he said.
